MADISON COUNTY, Ill. -- A crash closed Illinois Route 59 at Seiler Road in Madison County at around 11 a.m. Friday. Illinois State Police say that a van rolled onto its side in a ditch after a collision with a truck. One victim was taken to the hospital by helicopter with life-threatening injuries.The road has been closed for hours as police investigate the crash. It is unclear when it will reopen. ST. LOUIS -- The Bollinger County Sheriff's Office is asking for the public's help to find a woman from St. Louis who has been missing for a week. Leah Lamb, 42, has a registered address in St. Louis, but police believe that she was living in Bollinger County, Missouri. Police describe Lamb having blonde hair, being 5’1” tall and weighing 120 lbs. CHICAGO (WMBD) -- Illinois Secretary of State and State Librarian Alexi Giannoulias announced on Thursday that $420,000 in grant money will be going to the Illinois Department of Corrections (IDOC) to support prison libraries.According to Giannoulias, 28 prison libraries in Illinois will receive $15,000 to purchase reading materials, including books, magazines and newspapers, or other library supplies.“Access to books, educational materials and informative technology offers individuals the opportunity to empower themselves by acquiring new skills and broadening their horizons,” Giannoulias said. “By giving themselves the opportunity to prepare for a better life, a changed life, outside of the prison system, we’re helping individuals break free from the cycle of recidivism.” Secretary of State Giannoulias visits Peoria According to the release, Illinois correctional facilities' collection budget has been shrinking over the last 20 years. The Orange County Sheriff's Department has released new video, including body-worn camera footage, from the deadly mass shooting at Cook's Corner in Trabuco Canyon. Female Pedestrian Pronounced Dead after Collision near 5th StreetSAN FRANCISCO, CA (October 6, 2023) – A pedestrian accident on Market Street left a woman hospitalized with serious injuries.Around 9:31 p.m., officers were called to the intersection of 5th and Market Street in San Francisco.Upon arrival, they discovered a female pedestrian trapped under an autonomous Cruise vehicle.Based on the initial investigation, a self-driving vehicle hit the woman and ran her over. The San Francisco Dire Department reached out to Cruise autonomous vehicles to disable the car remotely.Responding firefighters used hydraulic-powered tools to extricate the victim.
