Alleged armed and dangerous motorcyclist taken into custody after pursuit in L.A. County

Officers with the Los Angeles Police Department were in pursuit of a motorcyclist who was allegedly armed and dangerous and may have also been wanted for assault with a deadly weapon. The chase, which began near the West Hills area, transitioned onto Mullholland Drive where the suspect was clocked traveling at speeds of near 70 miles per hour on the windy roadway. While the suspect was seen stopping at some stoplights, he also blew threw stop signs while transitioning onto surface streets. The suspect stopped at another stoplight with police directly behind him, but then sped away yet again. As ground units kept a safe distance from the suspect at times, LAPD is also tracking the pursuit from the air. The suspect wound his way back to a home where he may have reportedly been barricaded before the pursuit. A terrifying ordeal has a Moreno Valley neighborhood on edge after two women escaped from allegedly being held hostage and tortured by a convicted felon.The incident took place inside 53-year-old Gilberto Puga’s home, according to the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department.Arrest documents showed Puga called authorities on May 14 to report two women who were burglarizing his home.Moments later, dispatch received another call from two women at his home screaming for help.When deputies arrived, the two women were seen walking away from Puga’s residence. Investigators discovered the women had been locked inside Puga’s home against their will and tortured, according to arrest documents.They had not burglarized Puga’s home as he initially claimed, authorities said. WALNUT CREEK — A 45-year-old resident was in custody Thursday after an apparent afternoon attempt at robbing a bank across the street from the city’s police department, authorities said.In a social-media post Thursday afternoon, police said the robbery attempt happened at a branch of U.S. Bank, 1655 North Main St., which sits less than 100 yards across the street from Walnut Creek police headquarters at 1666 North Main.Around 1:45 p.m., officers responded to a hold-up alarm and evacuated nearby businesses after learning a suspect was still inside the bank. CONCORD — A 38-year-old man was in county jail after his arrest in connection with a fatal stabbing this week, authorities said.According to a statement posted to social media Thursday, police said officers responded to a home described as near Port Chicago Way around 4 p.m. Wednesday.When officers arrived at the home, they found a 66-year-old man who had suffered multiple stab wounds. The man was pronounced dead at the scene. His identity was not available from the Contra Costa Sheriff’s Office coroner’s division Thursday evening.Soon after, officers took the man’s roommate, a 38-year-old man, into custody and arrested him on suspicion of homicide in connection with the stabbing.
