Our inalienable culinary rights on the Fourth of July? Life, liberty and the pursuit of joyous grilling. Who says our holiday of backyard feasting must be just another weenie roast?Grilled pork tenderloin could be a delectable centerpiece of this year’s holiday happiness. As I often do, I turn to grilling guru Steven Raichlen to guide my path. His Mojo-Marinated Pork Tenderloin is a just-right entree.Raichlen marinates the tenderloins in a mix he dubs a “mojo marinade.” It’s a tasty blend of oil, garlic, cumin, lime juice, and orange juice, plus oregano, salt, and pepper. The prep requires that the mojo mix is brought to a boil. Once cooled, fresh mint or cilantro are added. Half of the cooled mixture is used to marinate the pork; the remaining concoction is spooned over the sliced grilled meat just before serving.Don’t confuse pork tenderloins with pork loin. Tenderloins are thin and long; they are always boneless. Most often they are sold sealed, two-to-a-pack. Pork loins are larg...Titanic sub updates: 5 people on OceanGate Expeditions submersible are dead after ‘catastrophic implosion,’ officials believe

The five people on board the missing OceanGate Expeditions sub that explores the Titanic wreck site have died, officials believe after rescuers on Thursday found remains of the sub from a likely “catastrophic implosion.”The 21-foot submersible has been missing in a remote area of the North Atlantic Ocean, about 900 miles off of Cape Cod, since Sunday. The 96-hour oxygen supply on board was expected to expire on Thursday.“We now believe that our CEO Stockton Rush, Shahzada Dawood and his son Suleman Dawood, Hamish Harding, and Paul-Henri Nargeolet, have sadly been lost,” OceanGate Expeditions said in a statement on Thursday.“These men were true explorers who shared a distinct spirit of adventure, and a deep passion for exploring and protecting the world’s oceans,” the company added. “Our hearts are with these five souls and every member of their families during this tragic time. WASHINGTON (AP) — Concerns about human rights and freedom in India were in the air for Thursday’s White House state dinner for Prime Minister Narendra Modi, while a plant-based menu of millet, mushrooms and strawberry shortcake filled the tables for the vegetarian premier and hundreds of guests.Despite deep differences over human rights and India’s stance on Russia’s war in Ukraine, President Joe Biden extended to Modi the administration’s third invitation for a state visit. It included the state dinner, a high diplomatic honor that the U.S. reserves for its closest allies.Biden hopes all the pomp and attention being lavished on Modi — from the thousands who gathered on the White House lawn to cheer his arrival in the morning to the splashy dinner at the end of the day — will help him firm up relations with the leader of a country the U.S. believes will be a pivotal force in Asia for decades to come. NEW YORK (AP) — A Congressional report published Thursday offered a blistering critique of popular Chinese retailers Shein and Temu, with lawmakers accusing the latter of failing to maintain “even the façade of a meaningful compliance program” that seeks to prevent goods made by forced labor from being sold on its platform. In the report, the House Select Committee on the Chinese Communist Party said Temu’s business model essentially allows the company to avoid responsibility in complying with a U.S. law that block imports from China’s Xinjiang region unless businesses can prove the items were made without forced labor. “American consumers should know that there is an extremely high risk that Temu’s supply chains are contaminated with forced labor,” the report said.Temu is owned by Pinduoduo Inc., a popular e-commerce site in China. It was launched in the U.S. last year and has grown in popularity by offering cheap goods, from apparel and home products, from China-based sellers. FRANKFORT, Ky. (AP) — Republican Attorney General Daniel Cameron’s office on Thursday asked the FBI to investigate a large infusion of campaign donations linked to a single credit card that flowed to the Kentucky Democratic Party and Gov. Andy Beshear ‘s reelection campaign. The controversy has major political undertones because Cameron is challenging Beshear in this year’s election showdown for governor in the Bluegrass State. While the donations were in multiple people’s names, they were all charged to the same credit card — connected to a Kentucky mayor. The contributions came from the mayor’s family and business connections, according to media reports. The Democratic governor’s campaign and the state party said they moved to refund more than $200,000 that they determined to exceed limits set by law.But the fallout escalated when Cameron’s office asked the FBI to investigate “circumstances surrounding” the contributions.
