Hollywood actors will officially end their months-long strike Thursday after a tentative contract agreement was agreed upon with studios.Since July 15, members of the Screen Actors Guild-American Federation of Television and Radio Artists (SAG-AFTRA) have picketed outside major studios, asking for updated terms to their contracts. The use of artificial intelligence (AI) was a sticking point for both sides and while details of the terms have not been revealed, SAG-AFTRA said its actors would be “protected” in terms of AI use.“In a contract valued at over one billion dollars, we have achieved a deal of extraordinary scope that includes ‘above-pattern’ minimum compensation increases, unprecedented provisions for consent and compensation that will protect members from the threat of Al, and for the first time establishes a streaming participation bonus,” the SAG-AFTRA TV/Theatrical negotiating committee said Wednesday. We came out regardless of who’s on the court. It’s still the NBA, and guys are talented.”The Pelicans struggled to fill the void on offense. Brandon Ingram was one of the only Pelicans who produced much offensively in the first half, leading the way with 17 of his team-high 24 points in the first half.Jordan Hawkins added ...Hollywood’s strikes are both now over as actors reach deal with studios, return to work with writers

By ANDREW DALTON and KRYSTA FAURIA (Associated Press)LOS ANGELES (AP) — On Thursday, for the first time in more than six months, neither Hollywood’s actors nor its writers will be on strike. The long-awaited clearing in the industry’s stormiest season in decades comes as a deal was reached late Wednesday to end what was, at nearly four months, the longest strike ever for film and television actors. The three-year contract must be approved by the board of the Screen Actors Guild-American Federation of Television and Radio Artists and its members in the coming days. But union leadership declared that the strike will end at 12:01 a.m. on Thursday, putting all of the parts of production back into action for the first time since spring.Duncan Crabtree-Ireland, SAG-AFTRA’s executive director and chief negotiator, said the gains made in the deal justified the struggle.“It’s an agreement that our members can be proud of.
